Therapist Spotlight: Jenna Sahli, LPC
Tell Us About You.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina, I specialize in working with clients who struggle with shame, burnout, and the relentless pressures of perfectionism and people-pleasing. My passion lies in helping those who dedicate their lives to caring for others—veterinarians, healthcare workers, teachers, animal rescuers, and caregivers—who often neglect their own well-being. As a compassion-focused therapist, I create a space for clients to explore their challenges with honesty, authenticity, and, of course, a little dog hair. My three-legged Great Pyrenees, Bernie, is a therapy dog-in-training and a powerful example of resilience and post-traumatic growth. I believe that healing doesn’t always come from words alone, and Bernie’s presence serves as a gentle reminder that recovery, comfort, and connection are possible.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Evolution of Self Counseling?
The best part about working at Evolution of Self Counseling and Consulting is being surrounded by an incredible team of therapists who are each brilliant in their own specialties. We’re all so different, yet we come together like the perfect bowl of gumbo—rich, unique, and working in harmony. It’s a privilege to be part of a group that fosters both professional growth and genuine support.
What are Your Self-Care Must Dos?
For me, self-care means maintaining time boundaries and being fully present with the people (and animals) I love most. Whether it’s spending time with my dogs, enjoying a quiet moment outdoors, or simply stepping away from the constant demands of life, protecting my energy is essential to showing up fully for my clients and myself.
What is Your Favorite Song or Favorite Quote?
“You could be the ripest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who doesn’t like peaches”
This quote is a constant reminder that no matter how hard we try to be everything for everyone, we are still human—and that’s okay.
What is a Turning Point in Your Life?
A major turning point in my life was stepping into the world of animal rescue and becoming the executive director of a nonprofit dog rescue. This experience deepened my passion for helping both people and animals, leading me to the work I do today. I’m currently in the process of becoming a Certified Pet Loss Grief Counselor, as I believe the bond between humans and animals is deeply healing. Bernie, my three-legged Great Pyrenees, exemplifies this belief beautifully. As a trauma survivor, he has an extraordinary way of offering comfort and connection beyond words. His journey has taught me—and so many others—about strength, patience, and the power of resilience. Together, we help remind people that no matter what hardships they’ve faced, healing is always possible.
If you could be an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A sloth, for sure! They move slowly, live life at their own pace, and have a calm, grounded energy that I really admire.
