Employee Spotlight: Jordan Crosby, LMFT
Tell Us About You.
My name is Jordan, and I am one of the therapists here at EOS. I'm originally from Columbia, but I've spent my adult life enjoying living in the Upstate. I've worked in higher education, public school, non-profits, community mental health, and private practice settings.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Evolution of Self Counseling?
I really value how knowledgable my colleagues are. EOS prioritizes using evidence-based treatments, so I enjoy hearing from other staff about the work they do and seeing how I can better implement evidence-based practices into my own work.
What is A Career Highlight or Success?
My clients are really amazing people who overcome so much. When I think of the highlights, I think of my clients who've graduated from high school or college, left unhealthy relationships, gotten full-time jobs, finally get to be true to themselves, been able to get medical conditions managed, get out of debt, and many more examples. I know all of the work that it took behind the scenes to get to those accomplishments, and I'm very proud of my clients for creating healthy change in their lives.
What Motivates You?
I'm primarily motivated by relationships. I hold a lot of respect and honor for the relationships this job allows me to have with my clients, their supporters, and my colleagues. I believe we are a culmination of all of the relationships we have, and it's important that we maintain them.
What are Your Self-Care Must Dos?
I’m a big believer in the power of music (listening to it, playing it on the piano, and collecting it on vinyl), journaling, photography, ingesting anything Marvel, and going to national and state parks.
What is Your Favorite Song or Favorite Quote?
Jordan being Jordan, could not pick just one!
“Time makes you bolder”
—Fleetwood Mac
“There'll be happiness after you
But there was happiness because of you
Both of these things can be true
There is happiness”
— Taylor Swift
What is a Turning Point in Your Life?
When I was 19, I *majorly* bombed an important math exam, and at that time, that was one of the biggest failures I had ever experienced. It really took that moment for me to realize I wasn’t studying what I valued.
Switching my major solely because of my own interests and needs seemed so risky at the time, but there’s no sign that you need to change something like a 17 on a final exam. I made all As and Bs after that though! Now, I’m very grateful for that failure because it was a lesson to me that it’s okay to fail so long as you learn from it and move forward with a plan.
