Reduce Chronic Pain or Distress “In a Flash”

The Flash Technique (FT) is a new therapy that reduces stress from traumatic memories. Unlike traditional methods of trauma therapy, FT is less invasive and doesn’t make clients relive their trauma, allowing them to cope without distress. It can be combined with EMDR or other exposure therapies for memories that may be too hard for clients to process. It has also been successful in targeting chronic pain.

FT was created to improve EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) by quickly reducing pain from difficult memories, usually in ten to fifteen minutes. Similar to EMDR, FT uses eye movements or tapping to work through trauma. It can enhance various trauma therapies, making them quicker and more manageable. In Internal Family Systems, it aids in "unburdening." In exposure therapies, it helps reduce associated distress. In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, it assists clients in adopting positive adult perspectives.
